Facilities - Overview

MURF is more than a building – it will be a year round wellness and active living centre that provides recreation and sports opportunities for all City of Orillia residents.

MURF will allow the City to expand the number and kinds of activities offered to residents, while community groups will be able to do a better job of meeting the demand for recreation and sport activities.

MURF will be developed at two sites:
• West Street recreation centre (building), park and outdoor activity areas; and
• Kitchener Park, to be re-designed and upgraded as a major soccer facility.

The MURF West Street facility has been designed to suit the needs of all interests and abilities, from babies to great-grandparents, with over 172,000 sq ft and over 36 acres of possibilities. Imagine skating on an outdoor trail, or watching your kids play at the “salamander,” or relaxing with friends at the snack bar, or cheering for your favourite team, or celebrating at a pool party – and the list goes on!
