Business Licences
Does the City of Orillia license businesses?
Yes. Licences are required for:
• Adult Entertainment
• Auctioneer/ Charity Auctions (Not required for silent auctions)
• Hawker & Pedlar/ Door-to-Door Sales/ Fruit & Vegetable
Stands
• Refreshment Vehicle/ Charity BBQ
• Mobile Catering Truck
• Salvage Yard
• Newspaper/ Periodical Distribution Boxes
• Kennels
All applicants must fill out an application form and
pay the appropriate licence fees before the process will begin.
The Municipal Law Enforcement Officer (MLEO), will
obtain approval from:
• Police Services Board (if applicable)
• Fire Prevention Department (if applicable)
• Zoning Department (if applicable)
• City Managers Department (if applicable)
The applicant is responsible for meeting
all other applicable licensing criteria before he/she will be approved.
Depending on the type of licence, this may include:
• Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit
• Public Liability Insurance
• Written approval from the property owner
• Propane inspection certificate
Both new applicants and licence renewals
can take up to 2 weeks before they are approved. Please make sure to
fill out the application form, pay any fees and complete all licensing
criteria as soon as possible before you would like your licence.
