Locating in Orillia


-Fibre Optics Network-

In 1998 a state of the art fibre optic data communications infrastructure was installed in Orillia. This network is driven by the latest in Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) technology having a 155 megabits/second capacity. This network has become known as the Simcoe County Broadband Network (SCBN). The network which started as a project initiated by the Orillia Water Light and Power Commission has now become a consortium owned by the following organizations; Hydro One Telecom Inc., Barrie Hydro Energy Services Inc., Orillia Power Generation Corporation, Innisfil Energy Services Limited. and Tay Utility Contracting Inc.
