Adoption of the Proposed Official Plan to be Considered by Council on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.
At the Statutory Public Meeting held on December 14, 2009, Council directed City Staff to review the written and verbal comments received on the Third Draft of the Official Plan prior to adopting the proposed Official Plan. Council also directed City Staff and the Planning Consultants to modify the proposed Official Plan in accordance with staff’s recommendations contained in Staff Report PD-09-35, dated December 9, 2009, (modifications #1 - #44 detailed in Attachment 1) and contained in the Supplementary Memo, dated December 11, 2009, (modifications #1 - #33). The modified Official Plan will be considered by Council on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.

Your written comments on the Third Draft would be appreciated by Wednesday, November 25, 2009 in preparation for the Statutory Public Meeting of Council which has been scheduled for Monday, December 14, 2009 at 5:30pm in the Council Chamber, Orillia City Centre - 50 Andrew Street South.
The Consultants (The Planning Partnership and Sorensen Gravely Lowes) will be present at the Public Meeting of Council to provide an overview of the Third Draft of the Official Plan Review and Update and to invite comments from the members of the public.
At this Public Meeting, Council will consider the adoption of the Official Plan Review and Update. The Official Plan also requires the final approval of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.

In the Fall of 2007 the planning consulting firms of The Planning Partnership and Sorensen Gravely Lowes were retained to undertake the comprehensive review and update of the City’s Official Plan. The study will take approximately one year to complete. Over the course of the next several months, the public will be consulted extensively through a series of public open houses and meetings. The meeting dates and times will be posted on our website. For more information, please contact the Planning Department at 325-2622.

On January 21st, 2008 Council adopted a new policy framework for the lands immediately surrounding the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH).
