The City of Orillia relies on the expertise of volunteers in the community and appoints approximately 100 citizens to the many Boards and Committees. Citizen appointments are generally made by City Council in November of each year.

Qualifications
To be eligible to serve, applicants must be an eligible elector of the City of Orillia.

There are some exceptions: A non-resident who has specific expertise or experience may be appointed to:

Environmental Advisory Committee
Accessibility Advisory Committee
Order of Orillia Awards Committee

Orillia Hall of Fame Committee

Term
The term of office of citizen members on most committees is three years. Terms may be staggered.

Members may serve up to two full terms (six years). If a member is appointed to fill a vacancy mid-term, he/ she completes that term and then may serve an additional two terms.
