-Mayor's Welcome-

A warm welcome from Mayor Ron Stevens

Nestled between Lakes Couchiching and Simcoe, just 70 minutes North of Toronto, Orillia is a happy convergence of natural beauty, big city amenities and high tech opportunities. Lifestyle is the number one reason many newcomers choose to locate here. Besides the outdoor recreational opportunities, Orillia plays host to professional and community theatre productions, concerts, and meetings at the 106 year old Orillia Opera House. The City also has a highly developed and co-operative tourism industry, skilled at packaging accommodation and attractions for the group and family markets. Fine dining opportunities abound and our re-vitalized downtown offers something for every shopper. The Stephen Leacock National Historic Site is just minutes away and the Port of Orillia offers one of the finest docking facilities on the Trent Severn System.

For the businessperson, Orillia offers a large pool of skilled management and labour, fostered by the presence of the Georgian College Orillia Campus. Development property is relatively inexpensive and Orillia Power Corporation has wired the City with fibre-optic cable (Simcoe Community Broadband Network) making our City a welcoming environment for call centres, data distribution and internet companies engaged in e-commerce. Our tax ratios are one of the lowest in the Province and the average cost of buying a house in our “Sunshine City” is still within reach of most.

Please view these web pages and you will discover that Orillia should be your number one choice, to visit or set up shop!

Ron Stevens

Mayor, City of Orillia
