The Annual Residential Water Meter Reading Program begins March 16, 2010 and we ask that all residential consumers please help to ensure that a reading has been taken at your residence.
Why it is important that you provide an actual water meter reading.
Water meter readings ensure that utility bills are based on actual consumption. When readings are not provided, water consumption is estimated, and you may be over or under billed. Consistent, actual readings can help identify plumbing leaks sooner and save you money.
Most new water meter installations since 2000 are equipped with remote readouts (small black button (touchpad) on outside of home). No homeowner readings are required for these types of meters as the City can obtain readings from outside the home.
If you have an older style meter or a newer meter but no touchpad is installed (finished basements etc.), please ensure a read is obtained by one of the following three ways.
1. Allow reader to enter home and read your water meter.
2. Fill out card that will be left at residence and then mail, drop off at City Hall, or deposit in the after-hours night slot.
3. Phone City Hall 329-7239 with water meter reading Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
This will provide a true reading of your water meter allowing for correct billing.
For questions concerning your water account, please call a Customer Service Representative at 329-7239, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
