Green Bin/ Yard Waste Collection
Green Bin /Yard Waste is collected
weeky year round even in the winter! You can put these materials out at the curb on your regular
collection day and it does not require a garbage tag. Kitchen containers for putting out kitchen organics
are available at the Waste Diversion Site for $ 2.00 each. Labels for your compostable kitchen/yard waste container are available free of charge at the city Centre and Waste Diversion Site. |
 |
Cut your household waste by up to 30% and save your garbage tags by using this program or by backyard composting. If you do not
backyard compost for whatever reason, you can still participate in the
City's curbside kitchen/yard waste collection program which now runs
year-round.
Waste is collected weekly with your recycling and regular waste. We encourage you to practice backyard composting as
an alternative to setting your compost out for collection whenever possible. This will save valuable landfill space!
Setout
During winter months (December 1 to April 1) please only use a container for setting out compostable kitchen/yard waste. This avoids difficulties collection staff would have with emptying frozen plastic bags. TIP: Line your container with a few layers of newspaper to help prevent kitchen waste from freezing to the container.
