Curbside Waste Collection

All garbage placed at curbside requires a City of Orillia Garbage Tag.

Waste must be placed at the curb by 7:00 am to ensure collection.

The maximum weight limit for a garbage bag, can or bundle is 20kg/44 lbs. There is a new garbage can size limit of 133 litres (35 gallons).

Garbage Tag Program

Introduction

All garbage placed at curbside requires a City of Orillia Garbage Tag. Garbage tags have been very successful in encouraging waste reduction. Each residential and commercial unit receives an allotment of 40 garbage tags for the period July 1 of the current year to June 30 of the following year.

All garbage must have a tag for collection.
No tags are needed for Green Bin/yard waste, recycling materials, or diapers in clear bags.

How to Tag Garbage

For a bag—wrap the tag over the twist ties to form a flag.

For a can—place tag on the topmost item of waste in the can (not on the lid, handle or can).

For a bundle—wrap the tag over the string to form a flag so it is easily visible.
