Orillia's "Adopt-A-Park" Program

This program was developed to encourage pride and involvement by all Orillians in their parklands and trails.

Many Orillia citizens, clubs and schools have volunteered to help with the upkeep of park areas with fall cleanups, spring cleanups, and/or other tasks. This public's assistance is appreciated by all who use the parks, and complements the current Orillia Parks and Recreation Department's regular maintenance program.

Over the past year, there has been an increased response from our community to become involved in various areas in Orillia's Adopt-A-Park Program. The Orillia Parks and Recreation Department expresses a big 'Thank You' to the individuals, organizations and schools who are helping in various ways. They are to be commended for contributing to other people's enjoyment and pride of the parks. When you hear visitors compliment our parks and green spaces in Orillia, a great deal of the credit goes to these willing volunteers.

We invite and challenge everyone, from seniors to preschoolers, schools, clubs, church groups, youth (students can earn volunteer hours), adult/youth sport groups, etc. to participate and keep our parks and trails the best that they can be. Park areas with the most activities usually have less vandalism, so YOU can help by just getting out and enjoying a walk or bike ride in the parks or trails.

To find out how you can make a difference by joining our Adopt-A-Park team, call the Orillia Parks and Recreation Department at 329-7250.
